For You: Introducing Para Ti Manitoba

In the fall of 2023, a group of parents of trans kids came together to help create the change we want to see in the world for our kids and trans people in our communities. While debriefing about the uptick in dangerous rhetoric and attempts to erase the existence of trans children, youth, and adults, we decided to counter the hate with love and action.

Love for our children and love for every single trans child who has had their identity called into question, their rights put under siege and their safety threatened. Our conversations emphasized the importance of moving forward, and advancing because if we don’t, we retreat. When we retreat, people we love lose the rights they, and we, have fought for. Then, we lose humanity, compassion, and the ability to see one another truly. There is too much at stake for us to remain static.

So PARA TI Manitoba was born, out of love, necessity, and the mutual desire to keep our trans kids safe. We are united in our goal to take meaningful action to ensure that trans rights are treated as human rights throughout Manitoba.

Para ti is Spanish and means “for you” ▶️. For you, our children. For the joy, the love, the support we share. Our lives with our children are about more than gender. Our children are multidimensional, multi-faceted people who thrive and struggle, work and play, and deserve to be seen, liked, respected, and loved for who they are on their terms. PARATI Manitoba exists so our kids can focus on the important stuff, like being kids, teenagers, and young adults, and all the beauty that entails.
